What is TOEFL?

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a test for English aptitude at any level for foreign universities. Administered by non-profit organization ETS (Educational Testing Service), TOEFL measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand English as it is spoken, written and heard in college and university settings. iBT stands for Internet Based Test which is the most common form of TOEFL conducted worldwide.

Students who want to apply for higher education overseas, scholarship and certification candidates, students and workers applying for visa can take TOEFL test any number of times not more than once in a 12-day period.

TOEFL 2018 Test Pattern

According to the TOEFL Test Pattern 2018, candidates get a mandatory break for 10 minutes after the Reading and Listening sections. Since March 2013, the test pattern of TOEFL 2018 underwent certain modification; the Listening and Speaking sections of the TOEFL iBT test (Internet-based test) included a different native-speaker English accents in addition to accents from North America. As per the test pattern of TOEFL 2018, candidates might get to hear accents from the United Kingdom, New Zealand or Australia. TOEFL test is devoid of any specified syllabus, so candidates are not required to refer to any particular subject or skill set provided in the TOEFL test pattern 2018. The candidate should focus more on developing the mentioned modules.

Who accepts the TOEFL Scores?

TOEFL is recognized by more than 10,000 participating institutes of TOEFL across 130 countries, including Australia, Canada, the UK and the United States. It is conducted more than 50 times a year at 4,500 test centres across 165 countries worldwide. One can register for TOEFL exam at his/her convenient TOEFL test date 2018. TOEFL has two formats TOEFL- TOEFL iBT (Internet-based test) and TOEFL PBT (paper-based test) and is typically held on Saturdays and Sundays. All the aspiring candidates must be thorough with the test pattern of TOEFL 2018 to obtain scores on the higher side.
